Second summit of three on Mt Lady Macdonald 02 Sep 2001
This was during a four day back counrty camping trip. The Three Sisters mountain Range is in the background. Picture taken by Tony Detering |
Another shot of Middle Sister
I scrambled Middle Sister three times in 2001. Twice to the summit and once to 6000 feet, turning around due to snow conditions. Tony and I took a group up to the summit and they really enjoyed the scramble. |

Mt Rhonda with poor visibilty conditions
This picture was taken on the Wapta Icefields in July 2001. Mt Rhonda is on the Alberta / B.C. border. |
Mt Rundle
I really enjoyed scrambling Mt Rundle. In May 2001 when we did it there was still quite a bit of snow. On the way back down in the tree line, some Gray Jays landed on our heads and ate from our hands. I will never forget those experiences.

Rapid Weather Changes
The weather changes extremely fast on Vancouver Island. It is a very damp climate, and hypothermia can set in quickly. When packing my back pack, I always plan for the worst case senario. |
Wood mountain
Wood mountain used to be a ski resort at the top of Forbidden Plateau. You can access Strathcona Park from here. Good view of Comox Valley on a clear Day.

To reach out and touch nature
I was taught to appreciate nature by my father. He had a strong bond with animals. I feel joy when a wild animal allows me a glimpse into it's world. |
