Second summit of three on Mt Lady Macdonald 02 Sep 2001
This was during a four day back counrty camping trip. The Three Sisters mountain Range is in the background. Picture taken by Tony Detering
Another shot of Middle Sister
I scrambled Middle Sister three times in 2001. Twice to the summit and once to 6000 feet, turning around due to snow conditions. Tony and I took a group up to the summit and they really enjoyed the scramble.
Mt Rhonda with poor visibilty conditions
This picture was taken on the Wapta Icefields in July 2001. Mt Rhonda is on the Alberta / B.C. border.
Mt Rundle
I really enjoyed scrambling Mt Rundle. In May 2001 when we did it there was still quite a bit of snow. On the way back down in the tree line, some Gray Jays landed on our heads and ate from our hands. I will never forget those experiences.
Rapid Weather Changes
The weather changes extremely fast on Vancouver Island. It is a very damp climate, and hypothermia can set in quickly. When packing my back pack, I always plan for the worst case senario.
Wood mountain
Wood mountain used to be a ski resort at the top of Forbidden Plateau. You can access Strathcona Park from here. Good view of Comox Valley on a clear Day.
To reach out and touch nature
I was taught to appreciate nature by my father. He had a strong bond with animals. I feel joy when a wild animal allows me a glimpse into it's world.
